Her-Story 3.0: Celebrating Women’s Independence in Malayalam Literature
The Women’s Committee organized the third edition of their flagship event, Her-Story 3.0, on April 6, 2024. This edition was graced by distinguished speakers and witnessed an enthusiastic participation of approximately 60 attendees.
The event commenced with a welcome note by Navami from Mathrukam, setting a warm tone for the discussions that followed. Maneesha presided over the event, ensuring smooth proceedings. The guests were introduced by Uma, paving the way for insightful sessions.
Renowned writer and social scientist, Dr. C S Chandrika, inaugurated the event with an engaging talk on “മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ സ്ത്രീ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ധാരകൾ” (Streams of Women’s Independence in Malayalam Literature). Her discourse delved into the evolution and significance of female autonomy in the literary landscape of Kerala.
Following her, Gayathri Varsha, a cine artist and activist, addressed the audience on “ആനുകാലിക വനിതാ മുന്നേറ്റ മുദ്രാവാക്യങ്ങൾ : വിപണന മാര്ഗങ്ങളോ?” (Contemporary Women’s Liberation Slogans: Means of Marketing?). Her presentation sparked a lively discussion moderated by Sarangi, offering diverse perspectives on the commercialization of feminist movements.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sandra from Mathrukam, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors. Coordinated by the Darsana Women’s Committee, with creative inputs for the YouTube video from Sarangi, Lakshmi, Maneesha, and Uma, Her-Story 3.0 was a resounding success, highlighting the ongoing journey of women’s empowerment in literature and beyond.
